The lord got the name Mallikarjuna because lord Arjuna worshiped lord shiva in this temple location with Mallika flowers. There are unlimited tirthas in this location that can form a hill. Hill in Sanskrit language is called ‘Sailam’ and so the location is named as Srisailam. In Sanskrit ‘Paalam’ means forehead, the water that fell down from the forehead(paalam) of lord Siva formed the Paladara waterfalls. The Srisailam tour is operated by AC minibus that has a ticket price of Rs.2990 for an adult and Rs.2392 for a child whose age is between 5 to 12 years old. Children above 12 years old are considered adults and will have the same adult fare. Children below 5 years old don’t require a ticket.
